Thanks to an agreement between the Miss GEICO Racing Team and the Orange County Choppers shop of cable channel TLC fame, fans of offshore powerboat racing and wild custom motorcycles will get a close look at both together at the upcoming Super Boat International Sarasota (FL) Grand Prix Festival July 3-6.

The collaboration between the two outfits began when Miss GEICO’s throttleman Scott Begovich, a longtime chopper enthusiast, met Orange County Choppers’ Paul Teutul, Sr., during the Palm Beach International Boat Show this spring.

That meeting led to arrangement that will see both groups showcasing hardware together at several offshore races, starting with the Sarasota event, and continuing with poker runs later this season. “It’s a unique opportunity to put together the finest offshore race team and best bike builders in the business,” says Begovich.

Teutul was equally enthusiastic about the collaboration. “Boats and choppers go together great,” Teutul says. “We believe the lifestyle that the boat world offers is very similar to the chopper lifestyle. We build a high-end amazing product and want our brand to be recognized throughout all industries.”

In addition to the Sarasota race, future planned events for the new offshore racing/chopper “team” include the Pirates of Lanier Run on Georgia’s Lake Lanier July 17-20; the SBI National Championships September 26-28; and the SBI Key West Offshore Racing Championships World Championships November 3-9.
